Main Street with the Athletic office located in the King Horn Center, located on W. Lincoln Ave. The university is part of NCAA Division III and a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Reporting: I will be reporting to the Head Football Coach, Dean Paul. Coach Paul is entering his 13th season with Ohio Northern and has compiled a record of 84 wins against 40 losses. Last season Coach Paul and the Polar Bears finished the year with a 9-3 record and also made it to the second round of the NCAA III playoffs.
Duties: I will be working closely with Coach Paul and the rest of the coaching staff in different areas. I will be responsible for setting up the teams travel and lodging while also working to setup Alumni Banquets, coaching clinics, and kids camps. I will also be working in the area of recruiting for the Polar Bears as well. The rest of the football staff includes the following:
Learning Objectives: My goal is to learn more about the daily job of the Director of Operations for the collegiate level along with the rules and regulations of the NCAA when it comes to recruiting..
Compensation: Because this opportunity is an internship, there will be no compensation for this position.
Hours/Duration: I will be completing a 200 hour mentorship with the university. My hours will vary from week-to-week based on events taking place. To start, I will be working at minimum 3 days a week for a few hours each day in order to begin learning about the position and will increase my hours once the season gets closer.
Expected Outcome: I will use this opportunity to maximize my understanding of Director of Football Operations position and I hope to learn more about being able to recruit at a level where no scholarships can be awarded. I also hope that I will be able to gain enough experience that I will be able to move up to higher levels of the NCAA in order to achieve my highest dream.
